"Grace Nanyonjo Drives Climate Action with 'Driving Eco Sustainability: My Perspective Podcast' under SDG 13"

Can you give us a brief overview of your project and how it addresses SDG 13?

Driving Eco Sustainability; My Perspective Podcast is a platform that shares inspirational stories and perspectives of community actors undertaking climate action and advancing environment sustainability through implementing innovative climate solutions.

What inspired you to tackle climate change as part of your project?

I was inspired by the need to inspire climate action from the perspective of ordinary actors tackling the climate crisis and to simplify climate change information to be understood and relatable to ordinary people.

What specific goals did your project aim to achieve in relation to combating climate change?

To enhance climate change awareness and simplify climate change policy information.

How did your project contribute to raising awareness about climate change or reducing its impacts?

Each podcast episode delves into a unique climate change solution, climate change perspective and community initiative aimed at addressing climate change.

Did your project focus on any particular aspect of climate change (e.g., mitigation, adaptation, education)? If so, could you explain this focus?

It focuses on education and enhancing awareness of the climate change crisis.

What were some of the challenges you faced while implementing your project, particularly in addressing climate change, and how did you overcome them?

Identifying potential guests was difficult in the start. However I started approaching potential guests through climate change themed events I attended and social media platforms such as X, Instagram and WhatsApp

Can you share any specific outcomes or impacts your project had in relation to SDG 13?

It enhanced climate change awareness by enhancing online access to climate change information through the podcast's presence on all notable social media platforms.

Did your project involve collaboration with other students, organizations, or community members? If yes, how did this collaboration enhance your project's effectiveness in combating climate change?

The Podcast focuses on documenting stories of actors that address climate change in their communities. As a result I have volunteered in community initiatives of my guests such as tree plantings and training women to repurpose textile offcuts to make jewelry to tackle the waste problem in Uganda.

What were some key lessons you learned from working on this project related to SDG 13?

Many people are undertaking action to tackle climate change and there is need for more online platforms to share their stories so as to inspire others to undertake action in their communities.

Looking ahead, how do you plan to continue your efforts to combat climate change beyond the scope of your project, and what role do you see yourself playing in future climate action initiatives?

I am working on developing a climate change themed game that helps people understand key climate change terms in a simplified, relaxed and entertaining manner.
